Meet the optometrists at Eye Vermont.
Dr. Vincent DeVita, Dr. Joseph O’Brien, Dr. Jennifer DeVita and Dr. Julie DeVita are all Fellows of the American Academy of Optometry. Our doctors are members of the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric Association, and the Vermont Optometric Association. They have extensive teaching experience in optometry, medical, and hospital clinics. They have published many scientific papers and presentations. They are licensed to provide primary eye care and treat eye disease. They manage patients with cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
Vincent J. DeVita, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Devita graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. He attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia graduating with honors in 1974 earning his Doctor of Optometry. He completed a residency internship at the State University of New York College of Optometry. He practiced in Binghamton, New York where he was clinical director of a large multi-specialty ophthalmology practice, hospital clinical instructor, and provider of primary eye care in private practice.
Joseph P. O’Brien, O.D., F.A.A.O
Dr. O’Brien attended the University at Buffalo, in Buffalo, New York. Upon completion in 1997, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He was a senior research technician at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. He continued his education at the New England College of Optometry, in Boston, graduating in 2003 earning his Doctor of Optometry. He completed his residency in hospital based ocular disease with the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Jamaica Plain, Boston in June 2004.
Julie A. DeVita, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Julie DeVita graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She attended the New England College of Optometry earning her Doctor of Optometry in 2008. She then completed a residency in hospital based optometry at the VA Boston Medical Center. Before joining Eye Vermont she served as clinical instructor at the New England College of Optometry Boston South End Community Health Center.
Jennifer R. DeVita, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Jeniffer Devita graduated from the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She continued her professional education at the New England College of Optometry, graduating in 2001. She completed a residency in hospital based ocular disease at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Boston. She was clinical director of the Martha Eliot Eye Clinic, assistant professor at the New England College of Optometry, and certified by the Joslin Diabetes Center in retina telemedicine.
